The Brownwood Fire Department was called to a house fire in the 2600 block of Franke Street Friday afternoon which resulted in the loss of the home.  At approximately 3:30pm Brownwood Fire crews arrived at the scene, finding the structure fully involved in flames.

According to friend of the home owner who was on scene, the fire started in the back of the small frame home and spread to an adjacent frame workshop.  The home and workshop were connected by a metal carport.  A pickup was parked in the carport and damaged during the fire.

According to Brownwood Fire Marshal Buddy Preston, the cause of the fire may have been an unattended propane torch.

Fire crews removed portions of the metal roof to gain better access to extinguish the fire and were on scene for more than two hours.  No injuries were reported during the fire.  The Early Volunteer Fire Department assisted in fighting the fire.
