Brownwood News – Wednesday, July 17, is the last day on the job for Brownwood Fire Chief, Eddy Wood.  After two years of service to the Brownwood Fire Department, Chief Wood will become the Division Chief for the Saginaw Fire Department.  At a reception in his honor Tuesday afternoon, Wood talked about his work in Brownwood.  “It’s been awesome, it’s been a great opportunity for me to learn.  My marching orders were clear.  Tell us if we’re doing what we should be doing.  That is what I’ve focused on the entire time I’ve been here,” Wood said.   He said the Saginaw Fire Department is similar to Brownwood in that the town also has two fire stations and a similar population.  Wood is also moving closer to family.  “That’s where my roots are and they made me a deal I couldn’t refuse,” Wood said.

Before he left, Chief Wood presented Brownwood ISD Superintendent, Dr. Joe Young, a fire helmet as a token of appreciation for the friendship and collaboration between the fire department and school district.  Firemen assigned to Fire Station 2 in south Brownwood have been temporarily living in the Field House at Gordon Wood Stadium while asbestos abatement is taking place at their fire station on Indian Creek.
