Spaygetti2015

Corinne T. Smith Animal Center’s Fifth Annual Spay-ghetti Dinner will take place Thursday, October 8, from 5:00 to 7:30 pm at the Adams Street Community Center. For only $10 per ticket, the dinner includes spaghetti with salad, garlic bread, and a beverage, with desserts available for just $1. Once again, Debra Mathis will be playing piano.

Corinne T. Smith Animal Center (CTSAC) board president, Dave Olhausen, stated, “To everyone who has supported the Corinne T. Smith Animal Center through this event in the past, we say thank you.  To everyone who hasn’t, I invite you to come eat with us.”

According to Freda Day, CTSAC Administrative Manager, “This fundraiser is a little different from everything else we do, because 100% of the proceeds go toward our spay/neuter program. Almost everyday people ask us at our shelter, ‘Are you no-kill?’ Our answer is no. One of the major factors that make that impossible at this point is that the majority of pets in Brown County are not spayed or neutered.”

“There is a direct correlation,” said Day, “between the percentage of pets in the community that are not spayed or neutered and the number of homeless dogs and cats that we are forced to euthanize.  Many people are willing to get their pets fixed, but can’t afford it on their own. We expect to be able to assist in getting about 200 pets fixed with the money brought in by this event.”

Food will be generously contributed by area restaurants, caterers, and bakeries, including Red Wagon, Buffalo Wild Wings, Brownwood Country Club, Casey Rowlett, Humphrey Pete’s, Lemon’s Barbeque, Prima Pasta, Steves’ Market, Studebaker’s Cafe, Sweet Life Treats, Texas 4-H Center, The Hideout, Section Hand, United Supermarket, The Sticks, and Underwood’s Cafeteria.
