Felony Offenders Sentenced in District Court

District Attorney Micheal Murray reports several felony cases were recently heard in Brown/Mills County District Court, Judge Stephen Ellis presiding.

Roy Ortega pled guilty to the felony offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver – Drug Free Zone and was sentenced to 15 years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.

David Ortega pled no contest to the felony offense of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and was sentenced to 15 years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.

Felipe Lopez pled no contest to the felony offense of Burglary of a Habitation and was sentenced to 3 years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.

Brent Cothran pled guilty to the felony offense of Aggravated Assault and was sentenced to 3 years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.  Further, Cothran, on probation for the felony offense of Prohibited Weapon, was adjudicated and sentenced to 3 years Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.

Ryan Wayne Smith pled guilty to the felony offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance and was sentenced to 3 years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.

Shanna Hutchins pled guilty to the felony offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance and was sentenced to 18 months, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, State Jail Division.  Further, Hutchins, on probation for the felony offense of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, was adjudicated and sentenced to 18 months, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, State Jail Division.

Catherine Brooks pled guilty to the felony offense of Delivery of a Controlled Substance and was sentenced to 18 months, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, State Jail Division.

Ricky Delarosa, on probation for the felony offense of Criminal Mischief, was adjudicated and sentenced to 12 months, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, State Jail Division.

Monica Castaneda pled guilty to the felony offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance and was sentenced to 12 months, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, State Jail Division.
