After months of planning and a few rejections, developer Richard Solis and Owner J.R. Newman of 3D Resorts received approval from the Brown County commissioner’s court on the plat of the Phase III expansion of the Feather Bay subdivision at Lake Brownwood.
Having met all requirements of the county, the plat was approved in a 3-1 vote after a lengthy morning debate that was carried into an afternoon session of the court. Solis initially presented the plat in October and encountered a few survey discrepancies that concerned the court which have been addressed.
“It’s a real happy day,” stated Newman. “We didn’t think it’d happen.”
Newman said that he was facing deadlines with the lender for the project and needed to get the plat approved this month to continue the development. Pictured above are Newman and Solis after the plat was recorded.
In other matters on the commissioners’ court agenda:
*Commissioners approved the plat for the Lodges at Mountainview at Lake Brownwood.
*Elections Administrator Suzy Young received approval for the purchase of 6 laptop computers and the licensing for 7 laptops for elections software, which includes one laptop already purchased. HAVA grant funds will be depleted and the remaining cost of $457.92 will come from the chapter 19 funds.
*County Surveyor Don King received approval to increase the charge of plat filing fees from $75/page to $100/page. King stated that some of these plats have involved increasingly many more hours, and that the fees have not increased in the 10 years and that this is the only source of revenue to pay the salary for the county surveyor. Small plats are typically 2 pages; however the larger plats can be as large as 20 pages such as the Oak Point Subdivision.
*Commissioner Steve Adams received approval for purchase of a heavy duty for his precinct, 16 foot flat bed trailer from Sanderson Trailer Sales in Early at the price of $1495.
*Approval was granted for the purchase of a hollow core steel door for the Daniell Building which will cost $1155 from Overhead Doors. This will include installation and all hardware/locks.
*Approval was granted to waive the penalty, interest and attorney fees for the owner of Thunderbird Bay Section I, Lots 354-357, improvements only. The property was inherited by Keith Bagnall from his mother who had paid the real property taxes; however the improvements’ tax was not paid and the bill had been sent erroneously to an address in San Angelo which was not the owner who lives in Big Springs.
* Brown County Treasurer Ann Krpoun was recognized for being honored at a conference held June 13-16 by the Texas Association of Counties, receiving a special award pin for her 5th year of certification as a County Investment Officer (CIO).
