Every time a client attends a parenting class at Family Services, his or her name is put in a drawing for the monthly give away.  In addition, during special events such as the recent Brownwood Christmas Under the Stars, those who signed up to take a parenting class became eligible for a special give away.  Rhonda Strickland and Rayana Richardson learned about these perks when they received phone calls announcing they were winners.

Strickland (Pictured below) attended a Parenting Wisely class for seven weeks and received her completion certificate. The very next week she learned her name had been drawn for the Thanksgiving Feast Give Away.  The huge basket included a turkey, canned goods, family games and toys.  The whole family stopped by at Family Services to pick up their prize.

Rayana Richardson (pictured above) took her child to the Brownwood Christmas Under the Stars at the Depot the first weekend in December.  Among the many activities for children and parents was a sign-up sheet for parenting classes from Family Services.  Realizing that no matter how good you are at managing your children, a few extra tips can benefit all parents, Richardson signed up for a class and at the same time became eligible for a basket of chocolates, cookies and a family game.  She was quite surprised when she received the call that she had won the prize.

Family Services Center offers parenting classes at many different times throughout the week for parents of children of all ages.  The classes help teach families great parenting skills for life.

Parenting  Wisely is rated a Model Program by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention and an Exemplary Program by Family Strengthening, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. It is currently being used in all 50 states and several countries around the world.  Classes are free, and Family Service Center serves seven counties in this area.
