Brownwood News – Brownwood’s Family Services Center is hosting their seventh annual Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday the 12th at The Hideout Golf Club.

The range will open at 7:30 with registration beginning at the same time, after a brief set of announcements and a short welcome, the shotgun start is at 9 with lunch and awards at 1.

The tournament is one of many fundraisers that supports the local non-profit. The Family Services Center has served Brown County and the surrounding area for over 20 years. Combining multiple social services under one roof was an idea that came to fruition in 1994 when they opened their doors in the old High School for the first time.

Preventing Abuse, helping to build health families, providing parenting classes and a list of other services are provided in original Brownwood High School building on Austin Avenue.

The 4 person scramble will feature a Celebrity Golfer shot sub as well as prizes for Hole-In-1, 50/50 POT raffle, proximity prizes and more. The Hole-In-1 prizes include an 8 day/7 night Las Vegas vacation, a 50’ inch SmartTV and free Callaway Golf Clubs.

There are still slots open for golfers who want to participate, call 325-646-5939 to sign up or stop by the Family Services Center at 901 Avenue B, at the corner of Avenue B and Austin Avenue.

Family Services Center’s mission statement is, “We exist to strengthen individuals, children, and families through professional counseling, education, advocacy, supportive services and collaboration.” Dispute resolution, Children and Divorce services, Anger Management, Literacy programs, and a Battery Intervention and Prevention Program are also among the services offered by FSC. They also are a safe exchange location for divorced parents who need a place to pick up and drop off their children for and after visitation.
