Evonna Estess Gilbreath was born in Brownwood, Texas on September 5, 1937 along with her twin sister, Winona Estess Henderson. She was the daughter of William Thomas and Ena Bert Watson Estess. She was married for 51 years to her husband, Kenneth Dale Gilbreath, who preceded her in death in August 2009. Evonna and Kenneth were the proud and loving parents of Travis and Leslie Gilbreath and a very special daughter-in-law, Ruth S. Gilbreath. Evonna will be greatly missed by numerous nieces and nephews including her nephew, James Hayden Gilbreath, who gave many hours of his time, help and protection during her rehab and illness in 2018.

Evonna was not only a wonderful mother and homemaker but worked and retired in the Brownwood school system as a librarian and secretary. Her office door was always open to staff, faculty and many children who enjoyed this wonderful lady’s company for many years.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Chatfield Assisted Living and Care Nursing and Rehabilitation for all the time and love they gave Evonna in 2018 and 2019. She made many wonderful friends with the staff and residents. We appreciate the love and care that was given to our mother. Evonna was a blessing to this world. Hold her in your heart and smile with love and fondness when you can.

Funeral services for Evonna will be held at 2 PM Friday, January 18, 2019 at Cox Cemetery in McCulloch County.  The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Thursday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
