Eva Lynn Miller was a sweet and talented woman. She was the rock of her family and made sure that they, along with friends, knew her amazing love. Eva was born and raised in Brownwood, TX by her parents, Ruth and Bill Morris and had two brothers, Dennis and Wayne.

She treasured her childhood experience at her grandparent’s homestead in Blanket, TX. Edith and Willie Heptinstall provided an opportunity for her to spend special time with them and to explore and play in the hill country with siblings and cousins. Eva’s mother was a piano teacher and taught her how to play at a young age.

By age 16, she was playing both the organ and piano for Melwood Baptist Church, Brownwood, TX. Eva continued to play music at First Baptist Church, Hobbs, NM, where she also sang in the choir, headed a mother’s-day-out program, and taught Sunday school. After graduating high school, Eva received both her bachelors and masters to become a Special Education Teacher for elementary schools. For 22 years, she lovingly taught students in Hobbs, NM and Seminole, TX, that needed special care and attention.

After teaching, she received her Diagnostician Certification and helped students in need get connected to special education in Odessa, TX. She married her husband, Jay Todd Miller in 1977 in Hobbs, NM and was blessed with two red headed daughters, Andrea Miller and Kyla Rodgers. Eva taught her daughters everything she knew about how to: cook a delicious meal, refinish an antique, plant and harvest, be the best gift-giver, sing beautifully, never stop learning, love, be strong, and truly enjoy the one life we are given. Her daughter Andrea, blessed her with 3 grandchildren, William, Aiden, and Josephina and she shared a very special bond with them.

When Eva found out she had pancreatic cancer, she refused to let it stop her. She fought through surgery and went on to fight through chemo/radiation in her daughter’s city of Austin, TX. Fighting the cancer near her daughters allowed her to spend many special days with them, her son-in law Jeff Rodgers, and her grandchildren. Even to the end, Eva didn’t want to stop fighting; she still had so much love in her heart to give. She will be greatly missed by all that had the honor of knowing and receiving her unconditional love.
