perkinsEva Jean Nichols Perkins, age 82, of Lake Brownwood died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Winchell Cemetery with burial to follow under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.

She was born Oct. 9, 1930, in Placid, Texas, the daughter of the late Vernon Walker and Hattie Inez Deaver Nichols. She grew up in the Placid and Winchell communities. She was married to Jim Perkins at Crowley on Sept. 15, 1966. She had lived at Lake Brownwood since 1994 moving from the Dallas/Fort Worth area where she had worked as an apartment supervisor and manager. She was a Baptist.

She will be remembered as a person who liked to volunteer her time to others. She volunteered as a “Pink Lady” with the hospital auxiliary at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center and later with the hospice group. She loved to cook and hunt and fish with her husband. A favorite hobby was traveling and seeing new country.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Perkins of Lake Brownwood; two daughters, Linda Johnson and husband William of Fort Worth, and Judy Cook and husband Henry of LaGrange; a son, Louis Ivie of Abilene; three step-daughters, Cindy Pierce and husband Jimmy of Lake Whitney, Pam Browning and husband of David of Lake Whitney, and Melissa Meske and husband Neil of Waco; grandchildren, James and Jeff Burns of Fort Worth, Jason Cook and wife Tisha of Austin, Katrina Gernand and husband Mike of Austin, MelissaLarned and husband Mike of Haskell, Brandi Bird and husband Robert of Lantana, Chris Browning of Burleson, Jon Browning and wife Katy of Midland, Kaitlin Meske and Garrett Meske of Wado; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Nichols of Brownwood; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roland and Louis Nichols; and two sisters, Janice Pearce and Betty Wigginton.
