Eva Alcala, age 88, of Brownwood passed away peacefully Monday, February 24, 2020.
Funeral Services for Eva will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Bryant officiating; burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Eva was born on June 5, 1931, to Miguel and Manuela (Martinez) Benavides in Talpa, Texas. She was a hard worker, working in nursing homes and Kohler.
Eva was a loving and caring mother and grandmother to her family; a strong person who cared deeply for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved and was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially all their accomplishments. She loved watching them play baseball, football, dance and band.
She was known for her sense of style and enjoyed conjunto music, collecting antiques and artwork. Her happiest moments were enjoying good desserts with her family. Her love will always be felt in the family and be deeply missed.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Alcala; her parents, Miguel and Manuela Benavides; 2 brothers, Eduardo Benavides and Jesse Benavides; and a sister, Lupe Benavides.
She is survived by her son, Albert Alcala Jr of San Antonio; daughter, Amanda Barrera and husband Fidel of Brownwood; grandchildren, Veronica Isquirdeo and husband Wesley of Brownwood, and Efrain Barrera of San Angelo; great-grandchildren, MarcAnthony, Wesley, and Lilly Isquirdeo; 2 sisters, Carmen Ornelas of San Antonio and Cathy Felan of Bertram; and 1 brother, Ishmael Benavides of San Antonio. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and friend Leo Lopez.
