Funeral Services for Eugene Russell Pettijohn, age 88, of Gustine, Texas, will be held Thursday November 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brownwood with Father Francis Njuko officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with recitation of the Rosary beginning at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held Monday November 19, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado with military honors.
Eugene passed away Friday November 09, 2012 in Brownwood, Texas. He was born on May 24, 1924 in Bussey, Iowa to Pearl and Elnora (Harris) Pettijohn. He married Lorrine Smith in 1946; he was Traffic Manager for Commercial Carriers until he retired in 1989. Eugene served in the Army during WWII, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling, traveling, and playing pool.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lorrine Pettijohn; a daughter, Rhonda Nicholson of Gustine; 5 Grandchildren, Audra Powell of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Melissa Burnham of Irving, Texas, Ian Nicholson of Abilene, Texas, Saundra Dygert of Marion, Iowa, and Michael Pettijohn of Ceder Rapids, Iowa; also 11 great-grandchildren.
