Funeral service for Ethel Adams will be in Brownwood at the 4th and Stewart Church of Christ at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 25th under the direction of Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.

Ethel Virginia Adams passed away August 17, 2018.

Ethel relocated to Temple from Brownwood in 2014 to be closer to her daughter.  She passed away at Elmcroft Senior Living in Temple where she had received such loving care for the last three years.

Ethel was born to Roger and Eva Hardin on March 29, 1923 in Colorado Springs, CO., the youngest of one brother and five sisters.  When she was two years old, the family moved to Brownwood, TX.

She attended Brownwood schools and met her future husband, Joe Allen Adams.  They were married August 23, 1938 at Lake Brownwood. They had one daughter, Judy, born in 1942. Joe Allen was drafted into the Navy during WWII. Ethel and Judy followed Joe to San Diego, CA to be with him until he shipped out to Hawaii.  Ethel worked in the insurance business for many years. She retired from Porter Insurance Agency February 28, 2010 after 40 years when she was 87 years old.  The Porter “boys” as she called Robert and Richard were so special to her.

Ethel was a devoted member of the 4th and Stewart Church of Christ.  The highest praise she could receive was for her strong Christian faith.

Her husband Joe Allen Adams passed away in 1984.  She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Eugene Lindemann, Jr.  She was the last of her generation in the Hardin family, being preceded in death by her parents Roger and Eva Hardin, one brother and four sisters.

Ethel was so proud to have five generations in her family.  She is survived by her daughter, Judy Adams Lindemann and husband, Dr. Eugene R. Lindemann, Sr. of Temple. Eugene liked to tell her he was her favorite son-in-law to which she would reply “you are my only son-in-law”.  She is also survived by three grandsons: Joe Allen Lindemann, Christopher Eric Lindemann, and Jon Paul Lindemann as well as three great-granddaughters and one great-grandson and two step great-great grandsons, and 5 step great-great-granddaughters.

Among the survivors are nieces Peggy Chism and husband Billy of Brownwood and Darlene Smith and husband Don of Blanket; Carolyn Pennington and husband Ronnie of San Angelo, TX; Janice McDaniel of Brownwood; and Dorothy Umberger of Washington state.

Surviving nephews are Gene Bannister and wife Barbara, of Brownwood; and Randy Brubaker also of Brownwood.

Pallbearers will be: Joe Lindemann, Chris Lindemann, Jon Paul Lindemann, JP Lindemann, Malcolm Marshall, and Mark Bannister.

Memorials may be made to the 4th and Stewart Church of Christ, Brownwood, in her name.
