CadenheadErnestErnest F. Cadenhead will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014, in Greenleaf Cemetery.

He died Sunday, January 26, 2014, in Brownwood.  He was 81.

A native of Brown County, Ernest was born in Brownwood on May 25, 1932.  He graduated from Brownwood High School, the University of Texas at Austin and Baylor Law School.  He served his country as a 1st lieutenant in the United States Air Force,  and as a captain in the  Air Force Reserves.   Ernest was active in the American Legion, Post 196, and had been post commander twice.

Ernest was an attorney in Brownwood for many years.  He had a private practice, and had served as a justice of the peace, county attorney, county judge and retired as 35th District Court judge.

Ernest loved politics and was a proud Democrat.  He also loved to talk and was fortunate to have many, many friends.  He was a man of faith and honor, and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Ernest F. Cadenhead, Sr. and Cassie Sneed Cadenhead; his stepmother, Inez Chandler Cadenhead; his beloved wife, Mary Edwards Cadenhead; and his daughter, Mary Ann Cadenhead.

He is survived by his son, Ernest F. Cadenhead III; his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dr. Chris Stephens; his son, Pete Cadenhead; his granddaughter, Kate Stephens; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Ben and Sondra Cadenhead, and Dr. John and Ginger Cadenhead, and their families; his Cadenhead cousins; and many friends.
