Saturday the final entries arrived hoping to be accepted for the 14th Annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit.  Artists from across the state delivered paintings, photography, and sculptures on Friday and Saturday to the Depot Civic and Cultural Center in anticipation for the big show. Officials said that a record 375 pieces of art were entered in this year’s competition and 129 of those will displayed in the exhibit.

The exhibit will be on display on February 5-17 at the Depot and promises to be another great event for the Brownwood area.  Show awards will be presented next Saturday. Artwork not selected for the show can be exhibited at the Salon des Refuses, sponsored by the Brownwood Art Association, at the Art Center on Fisk Avenue which will also be open to public for viewing.

This year’s Juror is Terry Morrow, an artist-teacher.  Morrow received his BFA degree from the University of Texas, Austin, and his MS degree from the University of Indiana, Bloomington, with additional graduate study at both UT, Austin, and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Following teaching positions at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, Terry joined the Faculty of the (then) Department of Art, school of Arts and Sciences, at Texas Technological College in 1968. From the beginning, his primary teaching responsibilities at Texas Tech have been in the areas of printmaking and drawing.
