eveningoftheatreOn Saturday, April 28th at 7:30p.m., the Howard Payne University Department of Theatre will be presenting An Evening of Theatre and Silent Auction at Mims Auditorium.  This event promises to be a one-of-a-kind theatre extravaganza.

With a mixture of monologues, scenes, and musical numbers, attendees definitely won’t want to miss the wide range of talent on stage for this one night.  There will be performances by some favorite HPU Theatre personalities, such as upperclassmen Rivers Shotwell and Josh Helms in belly laugh inducing scenes from The Producers and Greater Tuna.

Some up-and-coming underclassmen will also impress with a broad variety of performances; from Shakespeare to Sondheim, the evening promises to be full of surprises.  Even professors Dr. Nancy Jo Humfeld and Nicholas Ewen will be stepping into the spotlight.

Plus, the opportunity to place silent bids on items and services donated to the Theatre Department from local businesses and individuals will be available.  All proceeds of the silent auction will go to support the amazing young men and women of the HPU Theatre Department as they travel to Edinburgh, Scotland this summer to represent Howard Payne University at the Fringe Festival – the largest performing arts event in the world.
