Funeral services for Emma Elizabeth Bishop, age 83, of Brownwood, will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, August 19, 2013 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kelly Crenshaw officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenleaf Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.
Ms. Bishop died Thursday, August 15, 2013 in a San Angelo hospital.
Emma was born in Madisonville, Texas on January 9, 1930 to Sammy and Suzan Elizabeth James. She married the love of her life R.G. Bishop. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1995. She was a true Matriarch, a real angel on earth. She spent her life in servitude to God and her family. She loved deeply and with a pure and gentle heart. She was loved by many, and will be missed beyond words.
Emma is survived by her children, Tim Bishop of Brownwood, Don Bishop and wife Stephanie of Early, Carolyn Clark and husband Coney of Brady, Jeannie Russell of Brady, Mary Jane Hamilton and Kenneth Robertson of Brownwood, Michael Bishop and wife Vanessa of Lake Brownwood; Darlene Murray of Brady, Candy Kay Bishop of Brownwood, and Norman Bishop of Brownwood; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Evelee Cassidy and husband Earny of San Antonio, brother-in-law, Joe Moore, daughter-in-law, DeAnn Bishop Rogers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Arty May Watson and Mary Bell Moore, brother, Alvin James, two sons, Johnny Lee Bishop, and Billy Ray Bishop, granddaughter, Little Emma Bishop, and a grandson Jackie Stanfield.
