Graveside Services for Emily Jane Sikes, age 77, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Jordan Springs Cemetery with Bill Slaymaker officiating. No visitation will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Emily departed this earth to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. She was a special wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend and will be greatly missed. We lose an extremely thoughtful loved one who always wanted to know what she could do to help. She loved to converse with her family, friends, and strangers that would quickly become friends.
Emily was born April 4, 1939 in Brownwood, Texas to Cecil and Liz Smith. She was raised in Brownwood and married H.L. Sikes on November 28, 1958. She enjoyed a lengthy career with GTE.She was preceded in death by her parents; and rejoins her grandson, Ryan Sharp, in heaven.
Emily’s survivors include her husband, HL; son, Vince Sikes and Susan; daughter, Rhonda; grand daughter Emily Sharp; and great-grand daughter Presley; sister, Reba Burns and husband Pierce; brother, David Smith and wife Chery. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
The family would like to express gratitude to Dr.Chris Barnett and Hospice of San Angelo for their loving care. Rest in peace with our love forever. Memorials can be made to Hospice of San Angelo or American Cancer Society in her memory.
