CrawfordEmilyBEDCThe Brownwood City Council approved City Manager Bobby Rountree’s recommendation of Emily Crawford for the Assistant City Manager position.  The position is being reinstated into the city’s organizational chart for the first time since Rountree has been city manager.  She will assume additional duties while continuing her responsibilities as the city’s Economic Development Corporation Executive Director.   During her three years as EDC Executive Director, Crawford has worked closely with the city department heads, interacted with the city council, BEDC Board members, citizens and numerous developers.

In selecting Crawford, City Manager Rountree stated, “Some people have ten years of experience in one year, while others have one year’s experience ten times over.  I consider Emily as one of those who has ten years of experience in one year.  Emily is a fast learner and excels in her work ethic, professionalism, integrity, and her ability to work with a broad spectrum of people.”

 

Crawford has a proven track record of success beginning with the Texas Recreational Vehicle Association in Austin, the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce, the Brownwood Independent School District, and as the city’s Economic Development Executive Director.

She was the Valedictorian of her San Saba High School class and is a Suma Cum Laude graduate of Southwest Texas State University.

Emily and her husband, Scotty, have two sons:  Tim who attends Brownwood Middle School, and Seth, who attends East Elementary.

She will begin her new duties on March 12, 2014.
