She graduated from Socorro NM High School in 1949. She married Ramon E. Silva on September 06, 1956. Just a few months prior to the wedding while on a date at a local baseball game with another man, she promised Ramon that if he hit a homerun for her, she would go out on a date with him. He did and the rest is as they say; “history.”
Emena Silva prayed and read her bible every morning and every night and lived Matthew 25:35-40; helping to feed, clothe and visit the sick with many missionary trips to Mexico and Central America. She was a proud fifth generation American and loved her Country. She was very close to her children, and was very involved with her grandchildren. She grew up working on her family’s large ranch and farm; she also worked as a secretary, seamstress, elementary school substitute teacher, election pole worker, and as a home health care provider. She always had a garden and all kinds of animals. She enjoyed camping, trout fishing and hunting. She enjoyed crafts as a hobby. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have paintings and afghan blankets that she created for them.
Later, as her health began to falter, she was very appreciative of the Lake Brownwood Volunteer Fire Dept., Dr. Tom D. Byrd, Dr. Amy B. Tindol, the staff of Brownwood Senior Care , the staff of Redstone Assisted Living, and the staff of Brownwood Regional Medical Center, as well as family and friends that helped her.
