Elouise “Skeets” Large was born on October 15, 1922, in Cherokee, Texas. She silently slipped from this world and went home to our heavenly father on Thursday, August 25, 2011. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 27, from 6 – 8 PM at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Services will be held on Sunday, August 28, at 2 PM at Austin Avenue Church of Christ. Ted Kell and Jack Simmons will be officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Elouise was an amazing and feisty woman who made an immediate impression on everyone she met. During her lifetime, she was blessed to have a part in three memorable Brownwood businesses: the Chicken Hut, Chisholm’s Restaurant and Riverside Motor Hotel. She was a long-time member of Austin Avenue Church of Christ.
Elouise was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Large; parents, Chick and Velma Yarbrough; sister, Louise Chambers; and grandson, John Scott White. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Regena and Don White of Early ; granddaughter, Melissa White Burney, and her husband, Shawn Burney, of Brownwood; grandson, Cody White, of Ft. Myers, Florida; grandson and daughter-in-law, Drs. David and Sarah White of Dallas; three great-grandchildren, Aniston White of Cedar Park, Paislee Burney of Brownwood and Sloan White of Dallas. She leaves behind her brother, Burney Gene Yarbrough, and his wife, Pat; her sister, Latricia Duren, and her husband, Gene, and six nieces as well as extended family members and numerous friends.
In lieu of plants and flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cherokee Home for Children or the Missions Fund at Austin Avenue Church of Christ.
