Elmer LaWayne “Bo” Batteas, 70, of Brownwood went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, due to a lengthy illness.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Rocky Creek Baptist Church, 4300 CR 557, Hwy 279 North, Brownwood.
Bo was born on Sept. 19, 1942, in Sundown, Texas, to Elmer and Margaret Wright Batteas. He farmed and ranched in the West Texas area.
Bo was married to Patsy Fort in Feb. 3, 1962. They moved to Lake Brownwood in 1969 where they owned and operated Kirkland’s Dock and Trailer Park.
Bo received his Peace Officer training in 1973 while working as acting Lake Patrol. He worked as Lake Patrol until his dream took him to open another business B.A.R.E. Enterprises in the 1980’s.
Bo has always been active in law enforcement throughout his life here in Brown County, from Lake Patrol
Bo is survived by his wife, Patsy Batteas; two daughters, Diann Prickett (Tim) of Brownwood, Janet Dudik (Harry Joe) of Waco; one son, Donald Batteas (Janet Leigh) of Brownwood; two sisters, Doyce Cooper of Levelland, Texas, Shirly Harris of Fort Worth Texas; 8 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
He is proceeded in death by both parents, Elmer and Margaret Batteas; one brother, Jimmy Batteas; one sister, Bonnie Batteas; and one grandson, Shaun Pricket
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brownwood Funeral Home and Cremations.
