LuncefordEllenEEllen Elisabeth Lunceford, age 69 of Cross Plains, Texas passed away at her home on Saturday, August 13, 2016 with her best friend Charlie “Popie” Lunceford at her bedside.  After a yearlong struggle with lung cancer, her body is finally at rest and she is now healed and in the Lord’s presence.

Ellen was born in San Angelo, Texas on July 16, 1947 to parents Oscar Wallace Paris and Doris Arlene Hunter.  Ellen always had quite the sense of humor, never taking life to seriously, even in the absolute worst of times.  She spent her past three years in Cross Plains on what she called the “Funny Farm.”  It was her home with Popie, her chihuahua, Bandit and pug, Lady, and lots of various farm animals. In her best of days, Ellen tended a garden, something she had a great passion for.

Ellen is survived by Charlie “Popie” Lunceford; her children, Hollis Waddle, Brandi Mobley Sterry, Danny Mobley, Shawna Waddle, Lacy Lunceford, Crystal Lunceford and Stormey Lunceford, as well as her bonus children, Laura Pack, Lisa Pack, and Lofton Lunceford, along with 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Jessica Paris.

A memorial service will be held for Ellen, 4:00 PM Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Southside Church in Brownwood.
