Republican incumbents had a big night Tuesday as all county offices maintained the status quo in the races for County Judge, County Commissioners, and Justice of the Peace.
Longtime County Judge Ray West retained his office by defeating Ronnie Lappe by getting more than 73% of the vote. Commissioners Joel Kelton & Larry Traweek kept their offices as well as Justice of the Peace Jim Cavanaugh and Bryan Thompson.
Statewide races were slanted heavily Republican as well keeping incumbent Governor Rick Perry and US Congressman Mike Conaway in office.
Brown County had about a 41% voter turnout with 9,489 total votes cast in this election out of the more than 23,000 registered voters. 3,866 votes were cast as straight Republican with 563 voting straight Democrat. 4,265 were cast my mail and during the early voting period while 5,224 votes were cast on Election Day.
