Jayden Stewart, son of Carey and Kim Stewart, has received notice that he will be awarded a research assistant position this summer at the University of Michigan’s Department of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program.
Positions in the REU Program are awarded on the basis of academic excellence, motivation, scientific potential and compatibility of interests and long-term career goals with current AOSS research areas such as studies of cometary and planetary atmospheres; analysis of spacecraft and sounding rocket data; studies of the Earth’s atmosphere; analysis of data from instruments deployed at remote stations; design and fabrication of spacecraft hardware and laboratory calibrations. The program is designed to provide undergraduate students with “hands-on” experience of research in an organization of national and international repute. Stewart will be participating in ongoing research for the entire summer and be expected to prepare a report and make a presentation upon completion of the project.
On a lighter note, during his free time while in Ann Arbor, MI, Stewart plans on attending a NASCAR race at Michigan International Speedway and the Cinetopia International Film Festival.
Stewart is currently attending Tarleton State University majoring in Engineering Physics. He graduated from Early ISD as 2011 Salutatorian.
