Edwin Doyle Cox, 76, of Early, Texas passed away on Thursday August 21, 2014. Born March 31,1938 in Brookesmith, Texas to Dewey and Opal Hicks Cox, Edwin was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 36 years Clois Cox. He is survived by her three children Jerrilyn and Raymond Powell, Rick and Michelle Sparks and David Sparks of Fort Worth; their six grandchildren, Megan and Adam Richardson, Mandi Powell, Caleb and Anessa Sparks, Rebecca Hernandez and Irene Sparks; their four great-grandchildren Reese Richardson, JJ Hernandez, Drew and Alan Barrera. He is also survived by two siblings, Helen Harris of Azle, Texas and Harold Cox of Lake Jackson, Texas.
Edwin graduated from Brookesmith High School and Howard Payne University. He coached basketball in Priddy, Texas and worked at 3M prior to finding his calling owning and running his own dozer company, Edwin Cox Dozer Work. His favorite day would be spent riding his dozer, walking the land while collecting arrowheads and enjoying nature. When he wasn’t outdoors he always enjoyed sharing a good joke, a puzzle, a game of checkers and a card or hand trick.
Edwin will be remembered by family and friends at a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Sunday August 24, 2014, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas. Interment will follow at the Bangs Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. the day of the service.
