Edward H. (Eddie) Boone of Brownwood passed away on April 2, 2013, at the age of 77.  In his final days, Eddie continued to exhibit great courage along with his usual strong will and sense of humor.  A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Union Presbyterian Church in Brownwood with Mary D. D’Alessio officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 P.M. Friday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Eddie was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on October 4, 1935, to Thomas Harold and Bernice Diebel  Boone.  He graduated from high school in San Angelo in 1952 and attended Sul Ross College in Alpine, Texas.  Eddie served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  His career with GTE took him to Louisiana and many cities throughout Texas before finally bringing his family to Brownwood in 1979.  He retired in 1989 after 33 years of service.

Eddie had a great love of the outdoors, and spent his early adult years hunting, fishing and competing in rodeos, buckboard races and skeet and trap competitions.  He later directed his energy to other challenges including golf, raising cattle and Boar goats, baling hay and farming.  One of Eddie’s greatest joys was the camaraderie he developed with dear friends during the 13 years he managed the Brookshire Ranch.

Eddie will be greatly missed by his devoted wife of 47 years, Joyce Countess Boone and loving daughter, Gina Boone.  Other survivors include two brothers-in-law, Bill Countess and his wife Joan of Brownwood, and John Countess of Louisiana; five nephews, Mark and Kipper Countess of Arizona, Chad Countess and wife Jann of San Angelo and Matthew and Spencer Countess of Louisiana; and three special great-nieces, Audrey ,Elise and Abigail Countess of San Angelo.  Eddie was preceded in death by his father and mother, and an infant son, Edward Corey Boone.

Honorary Pallbearers are: Jim Bell, Brad Brookshire, Trent Brookshire, Wood Brookshire, Cliff Brookshire, Bill Byrd, Treldon Cutbirth, Richard Jordan, JJ Martin, Leroy Polnick and Charlie Smith.
