Edward F. Collins, Jr., 74, of Brownwood, passed away at his home Thursday, June 26, 2014.  A funeral service, under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home in Brownwood, will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2104 at the Heartland Church on Hwy 279, Brownwood, with Pastors Ken and Dawn Smith officiating.  Interment, with military honors, will follow at the Rocky Creek Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 30th at the Netherton Funeral Home.  Condolences to the family can be left online at www.nethertonfuneralhome.com.

Edward “Eddie” was born July 12, 1939, in Winthrop, Mass., to Edward F. and Charlotte (Grover) Collins. He graduated from Winthrop High School in Mass. and later attended TCU College in Ft. Worth. Eddie served in the military with three different branches, the United States Marine Corps, the Air Force, and Navy.  During his tour of duty at Lackland AFB, in San Antonio, he met and married Nancy Covey at Bandera in 1971.  After his military service, Eddie work as guard with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.  During retirement, he liked to play board games and fish.  He was a sport fisherman as well as working the trotline.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 43+ years, Nancy Collins; daughter, Bobbi Canning and husband Edmond of Marysville, TN, son, Gerald Collins of Brownwood, daughter, Jacquline Reagor and spouse Thomas of Brownwood, daughter-in-law Lisa Collins of Brownwood; brother, Richard Collins of Brownwood; grandchildren, Brandon Collins, Elisha Canning, Alison Canning, Shara Canning, Shara Collins, Darrell Collins, Carol Collins, Riley Reagor; great-grandchild Arron Diego Morales;  numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son, Jesse James Collins, parents, Edward and Charlotte Collins, and sister, Darlene Beland.
