Edna Elizabeth Nunn Seager passed away January 18, 2011, after a short illness.
Born April 8, 1921 in Brownwood, Texas to Robert Prosser Nunn and Edna Mae Weedon Nunn, she attended Brownwood High School. Elizabeth attended the University of Texas, graduating with Bachelor of Music in piano and Bachelor of Arts in English degrees in 1943. She furthered her education and graduated from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, New York, with a Master of Music Theory degree in 1948. Elizabeth returned to the University of Texas to teach music.
She met her husband of 49 years, Scott Elijah Seager, in Austin, and they married on September 3, 1949. Elizabeth was an accomplished pianist who taught at the University of Texas, and in San Francisco, California. She and Scott moved to University Park, Texas in 1963, where Scott was a Professor of Finance at Southern Methodist University.
Elizabeth was active in the SMU Women’s Club, and was an active member of the Club’s book club. For many years she performed with a musical group and was a long time member of Highland Park United Methodist Church. She was an avid investor for over forty years, who enjoyed analyzing markets and making investment decisions.
In 2000 she returned to Brownwood, where she lived until her death. She was a strong and independent woman as well as a loving wife and mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her son Scott Elijah, III.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan and husband Tom Stanley of Spring, TX; her son Robert of Brownwood, TX; her son Alan and wife Cheryl of Dallas, TX, grandchildren Thomas Stanley, IV, Matthew Stanley, Melissa and Christoph Lubenau, Adam Stanley, Katherine Elizabeth Seager, Courtney Seager, and Allison Seager.
The family will receive family and friends at Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood from 6:00 – 8:00pm Friday. The funeral will be at 11:00am Saturday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood.
