Brownwood News – Ed Kading, an over 25 year veteran of the San Angelo Police Department, was appointed Tuesday morning, June 11, 2019, as Chief of Police for the City of Brownwood.
Kading grew up in Huntsville, Texas and attended Sam Houston State University on a golf scholarship. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, Kading joined the San Angelo Police Department where he has been for over 25 years. He received his Masters in Public Administration from Angelo State University. In 2017, Kading graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He has served as SWAT Commander for San Angelo PD since 2016 and commanded the Street Crimes Division in San Angelo which includes Narcotics/Gangs/Special Operations.
“I look forward to becoming a part of the Brownwood community, and the Brownwood Police Department family. Together, we will develop each other to continue a tradition of professional, effective, and compassionate public service,” Kading said.
Chief Kading will join the Brownwood Police Department on July 8, according to City Manager Emily Crawford.
