Brownwood News – Brownwood ISD is asking all motorists to be aware of a change in traffic patterns surrounding East Elementary for the 2018-19 School Year.  Because of safety concerns for students and campus visitors, the district worked with City Manager Emily Crawford with the City of Brownwood and the Brownwood Police Department in devising a plan that would accommodate vehicular traffic around the school while maximizing the safety of students and other pedestrians.

Dr. Joe Young, BISD Superintendent, said, “We are grateful for the cooperative spirit that the City of Brownwood and the Brownwood Police Department bring to the table when we discuss school safety issues.  We have a devised a plan that we feel will work for both motorists and the school.  Please be mindful of these changes as you bring your students to school next week.”

East Elementary’s Meet the Teacher Event is scheduled for Monday, August 20, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.  Brownwood Police Chief Terry Nichols and Assistant Chief James Fuller will be on campus during those hours to answer any questions about the traffic patterns that parents may have, and maps will be available for parents to pick up.

A detailed map outlining the flow of traffic around East Elementary, as well as new stop signs at various stations around the campus, is shown below.
