HatParade2011EISDStudents of Early Primary celebrated Constitution Week with a parade of hats on Friday, September 16.  They came in all shapes, sizes and colors.  Early Primary Principal Brian Callaway led the parade of students who created all kinds of hats of red, white and blue with lots of decorations for the parade.  Some had feathers; some were painted, while another had soldiers with flags and even a fighter jet on it.  Some were top hats or cowboy hats.  Whether they were boys or girls, the students made some pretty amazing hats.

VFW 3278 and Ladies Auxiliary members were present for the parade.  Jane Masters of the auxiliary spoke of the variety and creativity of the hats and how much their organizations enjoyed the event.

“All of them were made by the students in a patriotic theme,” stated Masters.  “It was awesome.”

For some of these students, the hat parade had a special meaning as one of the students is a little boy whose father is deployed to Afghanistan.   His mother is expecting and is taking care of him and his little sister while their father is away fighting for their freedoms.

Below photos of all the hats and their creators, students who wore their hats with the pride of being American.  Also pictured are the auxiliary members watching the parade, including Joyce Leidig of Military and Family Support also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.  Photos courtesy Jane Masters and Miranda Benefield.
