According to Early Police Chief David Mercer, officers with the Early Police Department executed a search and arrest warrant at a local apartment complex looking for ecstasy and marijuana on Saturday.

Mercer noted that the investigation began in Early several days before when Sgt Shawn Dibrell and Officer Johnny Brown received information regarding the possible sale of ecstasy and marijuana in and around the Early area. Upon developing probable cause, Sgt. Dibrell and Officer Brown obtained a search and arrest warrant through the District Attorney’s office. The warrant was executed Saturday afternoon by officers from Early Police Department, Brownwood Police Department and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Chief Mercer, officers located numerous items of drug paraphernalia along with marijuana in the residence. Christopher Williams, 22, of Brownwood, admitted to officers that he had received a half of a pound of marijuana the night before along with some ecstasy, but had sold all the ecstasy and some of the marijuana according to Mercer. Williams was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Delivery of Marijuana. He was held in Brown County Jail as of Monday on $20,000 in bonds.  Gregory Cole Solis, 19, of Brownwood, was also arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana.

In an unrelated incident on Friday, Mercer reported that Officer John Mills responded to the Heartland Mall area regarding a man sitting in his car for a long period of time making people nervous. Officer Mills located 48-year-old David Paul Sydow who was intoxicated and placed him under arrest for public intoxication.
