According to Early Police reports, Sgt. Shawn Dibrell with the Early Police Dept began following up on a drug investigation in the City of Early last week after receiving information regarding illegal drugs and marijuana being sold in Early. While following up on the information Sgt Dibrell developed probable cause leading him to an apartment in an apartment complex on Highway 377 south in the City of Brownwood.

Deputy Carlisle Gover with the Brown Co Sheriff’s office assisted in the investigation on Sunday 01/10/10. Gover and Dibrell developed probable cause and then contacted Assistant District Attorney Sam Moss for a search warrant for the apartment. Judge Frank Griffin reviewed the search warrant and signed it at approximately 10pm Sunday night.

Officers from the Early Police Dept, Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Brownwood Police Dept executed the search warrant at approximately 11pm on Sunday. Officers searched and located various forms of drug paraphernalia, packaging products, scales and a 9mm handgun. A variety of drugs were located in the residence including Ecstasy, LSD, mushrooms and a quantity of marijuana. Several other suspected drug items were taken but have not been fully identified at this time. The apartment was also located in a drug free zone.

22-year-old Autumn Bridgette Alexander of Early and 22-year-old William Wayne Lewis of Brownwood were arrested for multiple charges of drug possession in a drug free zone including Possession of Marijuana state jail felony, Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1 – state jail felony, Possession of Controlled Substance PG 2 – 2nd degree felony and Possession of Controlled Substance PG 2- 2nd Felony. This was a successful investigation due to the diligence and cooperative efforts of all officers and agencies involved.

Other unrelated recent cases according to Early Police Reports:

On Friday, Officer Johnny Brown stopped a vehicle in the 1200 block of CC Woodson for suspicion of DWI. Upon interviewing the driver William Edward Bond, Officer Brown became suspicious of the driver being in possession of marijuana. The driver then volunteered the marijuana in the vehicle.

Saturday Officer Steven Means investigated the report of damage to the JC Penny metal loading doors. The damage was apparently when someone had struck the doors possibly trying to gain access. No access was gained to the building. Damage was estimated at $500.
