Early Police Chief David Mercer reports that a woman was arrested Friday as a result of an investigation conducted by Early Police Officer John Mills into a burglary that recently occurred in the 100 block of Orchard Dr in Early.
Police report that sometime between 9am and 5:30pm on April 29th, someone entered the residence through an unlocked door while the home owner was away at work. The home owner also discovered that the storage building behind the residence was also broken into.
Mercer said the owner reported that several items had been taken from the house but hadn’t found anything missing from the storage building at the time. The home owner listed items taken as numerous coin collections, a camera and numerous knives totaling over $1000 in value. The home owner did list a possible suspect as his girlfriend’s daughter and her boyfriend. On April 30th , Sgt Shawn Dibrell and Officer Keith Varner continued the follow up on the case and located the possible suspects at a local motel.
Mercer said that officers questioned the individuals about the burglary and also located pawn tickets where the reported stolen items had been pawned to a pawn shop.
Mercer said that 24-year-old Alisa Danyelle Morton from Brownwood confessed to the burglary of the items. Officer Varner placed Morton under arrest for burglary of Habitation and Burglary of a Building and was taken to the Brown County Jail on bonds totally $20,000. Varner located all the items from the local pawn shops.
