EarlyPDLogoA 4-wheeler accident took the life of an Early man on Saturday morning, according to Early Chief of Police David Mercer.  Mercer released the following information regarding a fatal 4-wheeler wreck Saturday.

The Early Police Department and Early Fire Department responded to an accident in the 300 block of North West Live Oak in Early involving a 4-wheeler at 7:35 p.m. on Saturday, August 15th. The 4-wheeler was a red Suzuki 700cc that had rolled several times throwing the rider off onto the pavement. The rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

EMS transported the rider to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center emergency room where he was pronounced deceased by the ER doctor.  The rider of the 4-wheeler was identified as 32-year-old Danny York of Early.

According to family members, York had decided to ride the 4-wheeler down the street and back. York drove down the street and back then was almost to the driveway when the 4-wheeler began rolling causing York to strike his head on the pavement.

The Early Police Department and DPS troopers met Sunday morning to reconstruct the accident. A blood sample will be submitted to the DPS lab to determine if alcohol was a factor.  A speed test was conducted indicating the 4-wheeler was traveling at least 48 mph. At this time it is unknown what caused York to lose control of the 4-wheeler causing it to roll.
