Early Pioneer Days is set to kick off on September 16th and 17th with family fun, competitions and concerts on Saturday night.
The public is invited to take part in the Chick-Fil-A 5K or Dye Run on Saturday, September 17th. The split course will offer a 5K run or a colorful 5K dye run.
Registration fees are $25 the 5K run and $35 for the Dye run for early registration and $10 extra on race day. Registration forms must be received by September 1st to guarantee a shirt to the entrant. For online registration CLICK HERE.
Packet pickup will be held at the Early Chamber of Commerce on Friday, September 16th from 12-5 p.m. or at the race on September 17th from 7-7:45 a.m. The race will begin at 8:00 a.m. at Early City Park and will be timed by Race Day Event Services. Courses will start and end at the city park. Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Prizes will be given for overall male/female and top three in each age group (11-14, 15-19, 20-19, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and older) and to the winning team entry. Teams consist of three -5 runners from a business/group/family and top three times will be counted.
This marks the 4th year for Early Pioneer Days. This festival-style event has seen tremendous growth over the last three years and this year will be no different, according to organizers. Additions such as State Farm Pioneer Man Contest, county fair theme contest: pie and hot dog eating contest as well as sack races, three legged races, wheel barrel races, horse shoes and washers. The event kicks off on Friday, September 16th with the South Park Medical Plaza BBQ Cook-off. The cook-off is a Lone Star Sanctioned event.
