Brownwood News – On Monday, 12/09/2019, the Early Police Department obtained arrest warrants for Mason Carpenter, 22-year-old from Lake Brownwood, for Tampering with Evidence. Carpenter was at the scene of a shooting that occurred on Thursday, 12/05/2019, on Lucus Drive in Early.

According to the police report, detectives learned during the investigation that the gun used in the shooting had been in Carpenter’s possession and that Carpenter got the gun and fled the scene after the shooting occurred. The gun also matches the description of a gun reported stolen to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office over the past year, but that has not been confirmed at this time. Carpenter is also wanted on other charges from Brownwood PD. Anyone with information regarding the location of Carpenter is ask to contact the Early Police Department or your local law enforcement agency. Carpenter is also known to frequent the Abilene and San Angelo areas.

A warrant was also obtained for Keirsten Matlock, 19, from Early for charges of Manufacture and Delivery of Controlled Substance. The incident took place in Matlock’s bedroom in the house and methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia, including packaging materials, were located laying in plain view in the bedroom. Matlock was arrested today at a motel in Brownwood on the warrant with bond of $7,500.

The 17-year-old subject who was identified as the shooter will be presented to Grand Jury for determination on charges.

According to the victim’s family his condition is improving and he is expected to make a full recovery.
