robotics_state2014The Early Middle School Intermediate Arena Robotics team recently attended the state robotics competition in Deer Park, Texas.  Placing 19th out of 60 teams at the state meet, they were one of 5 small schools that made it in the top 20.

The challenge this year was called “Rubble Trouble” which required each team’s robot to be preprogrammed to perform a search and rescue mission.  Each student had a specific job: Asa Welker was captain of the team; Aaron Koch, robot operator; Stephenye Lyon, bill of materials and timer; Taylor Hurt, food and medicine engineer; Hannah Hull, captain of supplies and timer.

While in Houston, these students were able to spend time at NASA and visit with a NASA engineer, Chris Wade, about robotics at NASA and future careers in robotics.
