The Early Longhorn football team has been hard at work this week practicing for the upcoming season. The coaching staff has been leading the team in their two-a-day practices, which included running through plays, and making passes.
Brad Bowden, Head Football Coach and Athletic Director, gave some of his thoughts on how the team is progressing so far.
“The attitudes are good and they are working hard. Right now what we are focused on is making sure they have great effort, and that their attitudes are right,” states Bowden. “The execution will come but, at the same time the execution has to start getting better.”
Bowden says that even though he can’t name a stand-out player yet, they do have a lot of kids that will be good team players.
“We have a lot of kids that we feel like are going to be good playmakers for us,” says Bowden. “I could go through the line, that’s the good and bad thing, we don’t have just that one kid but, we have a whole bunch of playmakers.”
The Longhorns will play their first scrimmage on August 18th in Early against Llano and Blanco starting at 10 am. The following Thursday the 23rd they will scrimmage against Breckenridge on the road. The first game of the season will be on August 31st in Cisco starting at 7:30 pm.
