EHSInterimPrincipal

Early ISD named David Hutton from Winters as interim principal of Early High School after former principal Susan Haynes unexpectedly announced her retirement from the position almost two weeks ago.

The hiring of Hutton was the only agenda item on the Early ISD school board’s special agenda Monday and was approved after a discussion of approximately 20 minutes.

“My recommendation is that David Hutton be hired with a resounding ‘Yes’ as the interim high school principal,” stated Early ISD superintendent Brett Koch before the vote was cast by board members.

Hutton is being hired on an “at-will” employment agreement and will have a start date of Tuesday, August 9, 2011.  Hutton comes to Early ISD from Winters ISD where he served as the superintendent.  Previous to his term in Winters, Hutton was the superintendent at Blanket ISD.

Koch said that he has known Hutton for approximately 8 years.  The two were acquainted when Hutton was at Blanket ISD since both districts were in the same special education cooperative.  Koch stated that Early was fortunate to be able to secure Hutton as the EHS principal and that he felt he will do a great job for Early ISD.

Hutton and his wife Shana have four children, Dave, Daniel, Holly and Micah who will attend Early ISD.  Shana is an elementary teacher.  Their oldest son, Dave, will be a freshman and began two-a-day practice this morning, according to Hutton.

Hutton was raised with family in education, as his father David Hutton, Sr. served as the superintendent of Menard, Tahoka and Muleshoe school districts.  Although he will serve as the interim high school principal for EHS, Hutton stated that he would like to continue his career as a superintendent sometime in the future.
