Fire engulfed a home in Early Sunday evening, leaving it a complete loss.
The fire occurred at 5:15 p.m. at 505 Lucas Drive in Early. The three occupants were not home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. Felix Torres lived in the home with his wife and adult grandson. The family had several dogs and all but one escaped the fire.
Torres left the home shortly before the fire began to go to the store for a quick errand and returned to find the home in engulfed by flames. Torres said that he had no idea what could have started the fire, but was thankful his family was safe.
“We lost everything, but it’s alright,” said Mr. Torres as he held one of his small house dogs. “It’s alright because we still have life. We are still alive.”
The family rents the home and had lived in Early for approximately 13 years according to Mr. Torres and his grandson.
Fire Marshal Buddy Preston was on scene at the time of the fire. No cause had been determined as of Sunday evening and an investigation is ongoing.
Early Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire and was assisted by Brownwood Fire Department and Zephyr Volunteer Fire Department. Allegiance Ambulance also responded.
