DearlyDeparted_EarlyOAP2016

The Early High School UIL One-Act Play team will present their 2016 contest piece, Dearly Departed by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones, on Saturday, March 19 at 7:00 pm and on Sunday, March 20 at 3:00 pm in the Early High School Student Activity Center. Tickets are available at the door for a suggested donation of $2.

Dearly Departed allows the audience to meet the Turpins, a small-town Southern family that puts the “fun” in “dysfunctional.”  The beleaguered Turpin family proves that living and dying in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious. Despite their earnest efforts to pull themselves together for their father’s funeral, the Turpin’s other problems keep overshadowing the solemn occasion. Amidst the chaos, the Turpins turn for comfort to their friends and neighbors, an eccentric community of misfits who just manage to pull together and help each other through their hours of need.

According to organizers, the production, “filled with colorful characters and poignant epiphanies, Dearly Departed will leave you with a smile on your face and tears in your eyes.”
