Early City Council met Tuesday discussing topics from water pipelines to Emergency Management/Crisis Situations.

In his administrator’s report, Ken Thomas said they are working to get everything finalized on easements for the water pipeline project but have a few property owners where the council may have to pursue imminent domain to acquire easements. Thomas said at the next council meeting on September 28, they will likely meet with Zephyr Water Supply Corporation in executive session to determine how to address the issue.The Early city council approved a memorandum of agreement between the Early Police Department and the Abilene Police Department on hostage, IED or crisis situations.

Early Chief of Police David Mercer told the council that the agreement states that the Abilene Police Department can be called in during hostage, IED or crisis situations at their own expense for the first 24 hours. Teams could arrive in the area within an hour and a half.

The council also approved the Atmos energy rate review mechanism extension, rate increase and recovery of steel service line replacement program costs as presented by project manager Debbie Hudson.
