Brownwood News – Outgoing Executive Director of the Early Chamber of Commerce Shelly Taff recently posted on Facebook announcing and welcoming the chamber’s new director, Shannan Burch.
“I will be leaving my post as the Director of the Early Chamber of Commerce to go back to my first love, teaching,” Taff posted. “I have enjoyed my tenure here and cherish the new friendships that have developed over the last year! Thank you all for your support and I will miss each of you.”
Shelly Taff’s last day will be March 16th. Domonique Stephens will serve as the Interim Director until Burch officially takes the helm effective April 10th.
Shannan Burch has been a resident of Comanche since 1985. She graduated from Comanche High School and graduated from Tarleton State University in 1992 with a degree in business. In 1990, she also graduated from Tarleton with Paramedic certification.
Following college, she worked for Medstar EMS/Rural Metro for 12 years before coming to Brownwood in 2004. Shannan comes to the Early Chamber after seven years at Heart of Texas EMS, where she served as the Director of Operations in her final position. She owns two successful businesses on the side, Paramed Exam Plus and Lilly B’s jewelry boutique.
Shannan has been married to Kevin Burch since 1994. He is also a paramedic and retired Fire Marshal for Comanche. Kevin is also an Early reserve police officer. They have three children: Courtney, married to Gary Bates, with two grandsons, Carter and Sawyer. Ashley, a senior at Comanche High School, who will be attending nursing school in the Fall. And Colby, an 8th grader at Comanche Junior High.
Shannan has been part of the Early community for eight years, serving as a Chamber ambassador, officer for the Early Booster club, and involved in many area events.
“This position is an honor,” Burch said. “I love this community so much and look forward to meeting people and helping push the growth of Early and Brown County. After 28 years in the medical field, I am ready for a new beginning. I am devoted to my family and can’t wait to get them involved with this new position.”
