The Early Chamber of Commerce held a re-grand opening ribbon cutting on October 6th for the ARK Domestic Violence Shelter’s New Administrative office building.

The ARK Shelter moved their administration office to 2900 Coggin Ave, Suite A in Brownwood.  The office is open to the public for questions and offers assistance Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The ARK believes that every person has the right to live in an environment free of violence or fear.  It’s staff and board members believe that services should be available to victims of family violence regardless of race, national origin, age, physical handicap, religion, or sex.

The ARK strives to keep a working coalition of organizations who share a commitment to servicing victims of family violence is necessary to maintain an effective and responsible program.  It is also believed that community education is the key in reaching out to persons needing services and those willing to provide support.

The ARK has a volunteer policy-making body that is directly responsible to the community it serves.

The ARK serves the local community in many ways:

  • 24-hour emergency help and shelter
  • 24-hour crisis line
  • Emergency transportation
  • Legal advocacy
  • Support groups
  • Sexual assault advocacy
  • Outreach counseling
  • Referral to other community agencies
  • Assistance in short and long term planning
  • Texas Crime Victims Compensation
  • And much more…

The ARK accepts donations at the new office location during business hours, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  For large donations, or for furniture items, the shelter accepts them each weekday before noon only. 

Early Chamber of Commerce officials express thanks to the ARK for taking care of the local community and welcome them to the chamber’s membership.
