The Early Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual awards banquet on Tuesday evening featuring a look back at the ’70’s, ’80’s, and ’90’s. Many hosts and Chamber members in decade appropriate costumes recapped how the city of Early has grown and changed over the years along with several fun facts about the decades.
The entertainment ramped up with a stunning performance by Abilene’s “Revolution” String Band made up of high school students from Abilene High and Abilene Cooper. Their unique playing of violins, violas, and other string instruments amazed and captivated the those in attendance.
The evening was capped off with presentations of several awards including awards for Business of the Year, Member of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Ambassador of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award. The winner of the Tagline Contest and the new tag line was revealed as well.
Shari Speck won the award for Member of the Year, but was unable to attend the banquet due to a broken pelvis she received after being thrown from a horse.
