Early Chamber of Commerce announced their entertainment lineup for the 2016 Early Pioneer Days at an announcement event Wednesday afternoon. Casey Donahew will be the concert headliner with opening act Callahan Divide for the concert on Saturday night, September 17th.
Early Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Shawn Russell thanked the entertainment committee for looking for different options. She explained when considering acts for the headliner, Donahew’s name kept coming up.
“We are really excited about him (Casey Donahew) and Callahan Divide coming. We are looking forward to Saturday night,” said Russell.
“We hope you are as excited as we are for the entertainment this year,” said Denise Hudson, Early Chamber of Commerce administrative coordinator to those attending. “We are looking forward to lots of people coming in for the concert. Last year saw approximately 850 people and this year we are hoping to double that.
Tickets for the concert will go on sale August 1st.
Pioneer Days is a family friendly festival, held annually at Early City Park and will include a carnival and a kids’ area featuring a petting zoo, bouncy houses, kids crafts and demonstrations. There will also be Indian dancers, a camel, the Concho Cowboys and Texas Farm Bureau will bring their trailer. Texas Parks and Wildlife is also scheduled to be a part of the festival. There will also be a food court and a variety of vendors.
The Chick-Fil-A Run or Dye 5K, an Iron Man and Woman Contest (with a pioneer theme) and the Lone Star BBQ Cook-off will be the lineup for this year’s competitive events.
Friday night there will be a DJ in the park after the football game and the TexasBank Fireworks Show will take place after the concert on Saturday night.
“Every year we have done this we double in size, we may outgrow the park from the response we are getting this year,” said Denise. “We think it will be a lot bigger and better than last year.”
