Brownwood News – The Early Ambassador Club of the Early Chamber of Commerce are bringing relief from this sweltering summer heat to those in need.
The Early Ambassador’s delivered a dozen box fans Wednesday afternoon to the Hendrick Surgery Center in Brownwood. The fans will, in turn, be given to Good Samaritan Ministries, Salvation Army and Cornerstone Community Action Agency, formerly known as Central Texas Opportunities. “Hendrick Surgical Center does a box fan drive for the needy every summer. We heard about it at the Early Chamber, the Ambassadors, and decided we would all get together and chip in, buy some fans and help out,” said Dottie Layman, Early Chamber Ambassador.
The fan drive was spearheaded by Helen Tatum. “She just headed this up, got everybody on the stick and we did it. That’s what it takes, community involvement, all of us working together and that’s what we’re the greatest at,” Layman said.
The staff of Hendrick Surgery Center gladly received the fans and will turn them over to the non-profits for immediate use. The staff at Hendrick also added a food drive to their efforts last month.
