Early High School hosted its fourth annual Heart of Texas Marching Festival on Saturday bringing in bands from around the area to participate. Bands from Breckenridge, Cisco, Bangs, Santa Anna, San Saba, Sonora, Brownwood, Early, and Howard Payne University performed during this year’s festival.
Early High School’s band took first place overall in the competition and also won awards for outstanding 2A band and fan favorite. Brownwood secured the outstanding drum majors award and Bangs was awarded for outstanding percussion. All three Brown County schools also received a Division I rating. Although not a part of the competition, Howard Payne University’s marching band concluded the event with an exhibition of their talent. The HPU band also performed earlier in the day during their homecoming parade and their homecoming football game.
